PARKING LOT

project: Parking lot
location: Waterloo, Ontario
year: 2004

The work has for basis the investigation of landscape, its presence and absence in modern cities. The site chosen for the study is a parking lot, a non-place and a non-landscape. A glaze of asphalt, steel and neon covers the site, choking the land beneath. It is a space of estrangement and alienation where repressed human sensitivity can only erupt violently.
